Often, File History won’t be turned on by default since it uses disk space - enabling it is a good idea if you want to save any trouble further down the line.

#RECOVER EMPTIED TRASH ON MAC FOR FREE PC#
You just need to know where to look… Recovering deleted files on a PC But emptying it doesn’t mean a deleted file is lost forever. Unfortunately, this handy feature only works if the bin hasn’t been emptied in the meantime - and if you haven’t saved over a previous version.

If you’re using a Mac, find the target files in the Trash and then either drag them to the desktop or right-click and select Put back to recover them. The Recycle Bin works like any other folder - simply open it, select the file you want and click the Restore option.

So, if you ever find yourself in a bind, always check the Recycle Bin (Windows) or Trash (Apple) first. You’ve spent hours working on an important document for a client, only to delete it a couple of days later accidentally.
